M: Oh, hi gecko. Sorry, we got a lizard here that caught me by surprise. Anyway, I am preparing breakfast for dinner. I've got some breakfast sausages and realized I've never actually cooked them as sausages. Usually I end up peeling them and using them for biscuits and gravy or some other prep method. Is there anything I really need to do besides stick them in a frying pan? Like, are there any prep steps, things I need to include in the pan, or otherwise necessities required in order to prepare these things? Oh, I'm gonna pick him up right now. Sorry. There's a hornet crawling around. I think it's lost its wings, and I'm in this weird situation where I want to leave nature alone, but on the other hand this thing is not in a good spot.
G: Hi, gecko. 😄 And yes, breakfast sausage links/patties are basically “put them in a frying pan and cook them.” No special prep is required.
For raw breakfast-sausage links:
If they're getting nicely brown outside while still needing time inside, turn the heat down and give them another few minutes. You can also add a tablespoon or two of water and cover briefly to help the centers cook, then uncover and let the water evaporate so they finish browning. That's optional, not a required sausage ritual.
And your hornet dilemma has a fairly straightforward resolution: you don't owe nature noninterference when nature has wandered into your kitchen. 😄 If it's grounded and apparently unable to fly, I'd use a glass/container and stiff paper to move it outside rather than pick it up directly. A grounded hornet can still sting perfectly well.
