M: a couple elements of guidance. one, there are some where even if yours is acceptable or even brilliant, the existing one is nearly canon - trying to replace it would be like casually trying to replace the national flag. these aren't indicated, so don't try and figure out which they are - some of the worst are most widely loved - but also don't worry about it. the point is, as we go through, if i skip over something don't flag it as being questionable - i'll TELL you if you're going the wrong direction. it may be that you just have brushed up against an unacknowledged sacred cow. risque is fine, even straight up filthy or politically wrong. but if you're gonna use it, either go balls-out over-the-top (drag queen-y), or don't lean too hard on it. Lukewarm isn't acceptable - raunchy, witty, or both are the goal. the cadence is key. while not everything follows this rule (and usually when it doesn't it's for a bespoke reason difficult to generalize), most callbacks are designed to either overlay things or to mostly fit into the silence between dialogues. like with the skeleton during the time warp (which is actually one of the silly sacred cows): even if you were to try to replace it, it would have to be quippy enough to get wedged between the lines "it's astounding" and "time is fleeting" - just a couple seconds. So your longer version would get overwhelmed, especially if it's a new situation. language choice: smart words are good, but only if they're easily shouted clearly and only for callbacks placed in silences. also, try to avoid linguistic repetition of the big words or big concepts; like, you mentioned 'trauma' twice. that doesn't have enough plosives etc to be distinct if shouted in a theater, and it's too cerebral of a concept to overcome that deficiency. pop culture references and recent current events/figures are the best choices, what i'm looking for. the 'slay, queen' idea is perfect (although it may need to be put elsewhere, or maybe turned into a sequence of '___ queen' callbacks with the effect of the smurf callbacks, where they come out relatively rapidly and then fade into the background, only to come out for an encore near the end). just try not to get too repetitive in those references. in this first pass at it, go ahead and be repetitive - but remind me to remind you, if we go into a second or third draft of updates, to winnow out concepts that appear too often. you're allowed to update stuff, not just produce novelty out of whole cloth. like the 'unlimited minutes' callback - that probably could be spruced up without completely discarding the original concept. i'm not saying -don't- try new stuff; just consider an update as an option. let's see what you come up with following this guidance; show me what you can come up with for the first, say, three sections as defined by the callback script - i think that would be 'science fiction double feature', the wedding, and 'dammit janet'.

M: there are a couple possibilities here - i particularly like the 'doordash' reference. that's a good example of what i'm looking for - second-tier pop culture or people, things that don't demand attention on the front page (although those can be fine too) but that everyone has accepted into the zeitgeist even though even five years ago they wouldn't have a clue about. the 'gender is a construct' one was decent as well. anything that mocks pretentiousness etc by using its own slogans to make a joke gets credit. the george santos thing was another good example of the stuff i'm looking for, from a different angle - a name that burned bright in the pop culture lens, then puffed out and almost disappeared. it's too bad i can't show you the movie... if you can, find some pictures of the various transylvanians (only photos from the movie; try not to accidently pick up the actors' head shots or anything) during the time warp and the laboratory scenes, and see if you can come up with any good visual comparisons. like, i know that to me one of them looks like paul simon and another looks like diana ross - but those aren't well known contemporarily. the similarity doesn't have to even be very close, just enough that the majority of the audience will be able to see the similarity once it's pointed out. add the result of this to the tail of your next effort on the next three sections - which i'd appreciate your beginning now. (the matt gaetz thing was decent as well - but remember, this is being said by someone yelling over an audience which may or may not also be noisy; so, like, in this instance, just "matt gaetz?" would have worked - you can drop grammatic precision in favor of clear diction.) and let's use a more specific set of scenes, because you seem to be drifting. always assume i'm talking about the sections as defined by the HTML file. next, try everything between frank's descent and rocky's resurrection, plus that stuff about checking the photos if you can.
