G: Grill the burger over direct
medium-high heat (about 375–400°F).
- Bacon Timing: Cook the bacon separately first. This
avoids undercooked or overcooked bacon and prevents flare-ups from bacon
grease. You can do this on the grill using a cast-iron skillet or
griddle, or just cook it indoors.
- Burger Cooking: Grill patties for ~3–4 minutes per
side for medium-rare, or 4–5 minutes per side for medium. Flip only
once.
- Cheese & Bacon: Add cheese (cheddar works best)
about 1–2 minutes before the burger is done, then place the cooked bacon
on top while the cheese melts. Close the lid to help it melt
faster.
This method ensures crispy bacon, a properly cooked burger, and gooey
cheese.
